On July 18th, the graphene ternary cathode material project was put into operation in Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone, and the Ningxia Graphene New Materials Application Technology Research Institute was unveiled at the same time. On the same day, the second phase construction of graphene kicked off. This move filled the gap in the graphene industry in Ningxia, and it allowed the Yinchuan Economic Development Zone to stand at the forefront of new material production.

Graphene, known in the industry as "magic material", was introduced in 2004 and is the thinnest and hardest nanomaterial known. Since 2015, the domestic commercial application of graphene has ushered in a boom, innovative products are frequent, and many provinces and cities have laid out the graphene industry. As a western city, Yinchuan took the lead in the graphene industry.

From the project to the start of production: the map of the graphene industry

Graphene is a two-dimensional carbon material and is a general term for single-layer graphene, double-layer graphene and multilayer graphene. At present, the domestic standard of 10 is called graphene. The lower the number of layers, the higher the quality and the greater the difficulty in mass production.

In December 2017, the annual output of 30,000 tons of ternary positive materials and 10,000 tons of conductive paste project was officially launched in Yinchuan Economic Development Zone. After more than half a year of construction, on July 18 this year, the first phase project of graphene cathode materials with an investment of 300 million yuan and an annual output of 3,000 tons was put into operation. This is the strategic cooperation between Yinchuan Economic Development Zone and China Aerospace Beijing Aviation Materials Research Institute and Tianjin Yuhanhao Graphene Energy Storage Materials Co., Ltd.

The production of ternary cathode materials can meet the much-needed technology and scale demand of domestic and international power vehicle lithium batteries, and effectively support the rapid development of domestic new energy industry, filling the gaps in such products, and it is expected that the output value will reach 400 million yuan during the year. Not only that, the second phase project of graphene ternary cathode material and conductive paste started construction simultaneously, with an annual output of 12,000 tons of positive-grade materials and 5,000 tons of graphene conductive paste.

Tianjin Yuhanhao Graphene Energy Storage Materials Co., Ltd. is expected to invest a total of 8.5 billion yuan in the Yinchuan Economic Development Zone to build five graphene projects. At present, four new investment projects, including the ternary precursor preparation project and the dismantling and recycling of used lithium-ion batteries, are doing the preliminary environmental impact assessment work. In addition to the project construction, Ningxia Graphene New Materials Application Technology Research Institute, which is a supporting technology support, settled in Yinchuan Economic Development Zone as scheduled. The Institute is the core of the research institute with Dr. Yan Shaojiu and its team, the leading technology leader in the graphene industry. At present, it has gathered dozens of international and domestic high-end talent resources such as doctors and masters.

From the laboratory to the factory: let graphene "ground gas"

Despite the most advanced R&D team, the smoke from the raw materials market still makes Yinchuan feel the risk of competition.

According to statistics, there are currently 33 large-scale industrial enterprises and 16 high-tech enterprises in the preparation and application of graphene raw materials in Changzhou, Jiangsu. Wuxi has established a graphene industry development demonstration zone to cultivate Gefei Electronics and Jihui New Energy. Chongqing listed graphene as one of the ten strategic emerging industries; Ningbo announced that it will strive to build the world's largest production base of graphene raw materials in 10 years.

The company and the graphene projects introduced in Ningxia, Yinchuan and Yinchuan Economic Development Zones provide R&D services.” The head of Ningxia Graphene New Materials Application Technology Research Institute said that it will focus on the development of next-generation graphene heat-dissipating materials and applications and environmental materials for the future market. And applications, graphene waterborne coating materials and applications, research and transformation of landing related products, and strive to account for more than 40% of the graphene industrialization market.

From individual projects to industrialization: building a billion industrial cluster

In the second half of this year, Ningxia Yuhanyu will launch a ternary precursor project with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan. In March next year, it will start an investment of 1.5 billion yuan for the first phase of 15,000 tons of cathode materials and 5,000 tons of conductive paste. In the second half of next year, we will start investing 1 billion yuan in graphene silicon carbon anode materials and graphene heat sink projects, and strive to achieve three production projects at the end of 2019, and achieve annual sales income of 8 billion yuan.

After these projects are completed, they will drive the industrial chain projects such as batteries, and Yinchuan will strive to build a tens of billions of industrial clusters. "From industry to industrial chain to industrial clusters, we use technology and strength to embrace new technologies and technologies." The person in charge of the Yinchuan Economic Development Zone said.

Statistically 40-60 metric tons of coal will be preserved when a metric ton of the material is consumed.The new raw material is researched and produced by ourselves, which is mainly used in theproduction of polycarboxylate superplasticizer products.   

Remarkable plasticity:  as a condition of blending where amount of cement and collapsibility are fixed aforehand, mixing water can be decreased by 18-28% when it is admised with reinforced concrete at 0.5-1.0%. Ststistically, compression strendth on the 1st day, the 3rd day and the 28th day after single application is increased by 60-90% and 25-60% respectively when it is added at standard blend dosage. As the result, compression strength, tensile strength, bucking strgth and modulus of elasticity will be improved to some extent.
