The story of particleboard begins in the early 1920s. Prior to 1949, the primary form of particleboard available was the cement wood board. However, things started to change in 1952 when the first protein glue particleboards began to be produced. Then, in 1956, resin glue particleboard entered the market, followed by the introduction of fiberboard in 1958. By the early 1960s, factories for wet fiberboard were established in both Beijing and Shanghai. These efforts continued into the 1970s, with advancements leading to the development of dry and flexible fiberboard production lines. Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) started production in 1980, marking another significant milestone. Today, the total production capacity of wood-based panels has soared beyond 80 million cubic meters, reflecting an impressive evolution over nearly a century. This growth is not just about numbers but also about how these materials have become integral to modern construction and design. As we look back, it’s clear that the journey from simple cement wood boards to high-tech fiberboards has been nothing short of remarkable.
