China Plywood Industry

The history of particleboard production dates back to the early 1920s. Prior to 1949, the primary type of engineered wood available was the cement wood board. However, things began to change in 1952 when manufacturers started experimenting with protein glue particle boards. By 1956, advancements led to the introduction of resin glue particle boards, and soon after, in 1958, fiberboards became a part of the market. Fast forward to the early 1960s, two major milestones occurred. Wet fiberboard factories were established in both Beijing and Shanghai. Then, in the early 1970s, the industry saw another leap forward with the development of dry and flexible fiberboard production lines. These innovations paved the way for the production of medium-density fiberboard starting in 1980. Today, the global production capacity of wood-based panels has far surpassed 80 million cubic meters. This growth is a testament to how far the industry has come since its humble beginnings. It's fascinating to think about how much effort and innovation have gone into perfecting these materials over the decades. Each step forward has opened new doors for architects, builders, and designers alike, allowing them to create more sustainable and versatile structures.
