Introduction to particleboard

Particleboard, also referred to as "solid wood particle board," is an engineered wood product made by breaking down raw materials like wood into small pieces of specific sizes. These pieces are then dried, mixed with adhesives, hardeners, and waterproofing agents, and pressed together under heat and pressure to form a solid panel.

One of the key advantages of particleboard is its uniform structure, which makes it easy to process and shape into large sheets. This makes it a popular choice for manufacturing furniture in various styles and sizes. Once produced, particleboard doesn’t require additional drying and can be used directly. It also offers good sound absorption and insulation properties. However, it has some drawbacks. The edges of particleboard tend to be rough and prone to moisture absorption, making edge sealing a critical step in production. Additionally, due to its density, furniture made from particleboard tends to be heavier than that made from other types of panels.

There are several ways to classify particleboard based on its use, structure, manufacturing method, and raw materials:

By Use: - Class A particleboard (for general interior use) - Class B particleboard (for more demanding environments)

By Structure: - Single-layer particleboard - Three-layer particleboard - Gradient structure particleboard - Oriented particleboard - Waffle particleboard - Molded particleboard

By Manufacturing Method: - Flat-pressed particleboard - Extruded particleboard

By Raw Materials: - Wood particleboard - Bagasse particleboard - Linen chipboard - Cotton stalk particleboard - Bamboo particleboard - Cement particleboard - Gypsum particleboard

By Surface Condition: 1. Unfinished particleboard: - Sanded particleboard - Unsanded particleboard 2. Facing particleboard: - Impregnated paper-faced particleboard - Decorative laminate-faced particleboard - Veneer-faced particleboard - Surface-coated particleboard - PVC-faced particleboard
