Using Cloud Cameras to Develop Civilian Security Market

Using Cloud Cameras to Develop Civilian Security Market As people become more aware of their safety, the traditional surveillance industry has evolved from analog systems to high-definition network solutions. With the widespread use of smartphones and other mobile devices, it's now possible for users to monitor security footage remotely, anytime and anywhere. This shift in consumer behavior has created new opportunities for companies looking to enter the home and small business security market. Shenzhen Fu Shi Kang Industrial Development Co., Ltd., a well-known supplier in the traditional security sector, has recognized this trend and launched its cloud camera designed specifically for homes, small offices, and retail spaces. The company aims to tap into the growing demand for convenient and reliable home monitoring solutions. To gain deeper insights into the development of cloud cameras, China Security Network recently spoke with Mr. Zheng Bin, Deputy General Manager of Fu Shi Kang. Positioning the Cloud Camera for Market Success In the past, accessing surveillance footage was limited to desktop computers within a local area network. However, as mobile devices have become essential in daily life, more homeowners and business owners are seeking real-time monitoring through their smartphones. Fu Shi Kang’s independently developed cloud camera is a breakthrough product that allows users to access live video through mobile devices, marking a new era in home security. “Our product fills a gap in the market by enabling real-time mobile viewing,” said Zheng. The cloud camera is based on cloud computing, cloud monitoring, and cloud storage platforms, making it ideal for residential and small business environments. It features a sleek design, easy installation, and operates without the need for a computer. Users can view live video from any device with an internet connection, including Apple and Android phones. The camera also supports voice communication, alarm integration, remote control, video storage, and infrared night vision. When asked about the differences between cloud cameras and traditional IP cameras, Zheng explained: “While both use the internet, standard IP cameras are limited to LAN access, and their video quality drops significantly outside the local network. Our technology allows for high-definition, real-time video streaming on mobile devices—something no other company has achieved yet.” Leveraging Cloud Technology for Civil Security Innovation One of the main challenges in the security industry is handling large amounts of video data within limited bandwidth. Fu Shi Kang has addressed this by developing advanced video compression algorithms that enable high-definition, real-time video transmission at low bandwidth. During a demo, the reporter observed that only 25KB of data was needed to stream a high-definition video clip. Fu Shi Kang has invested heavily in cloud technology, with over 30 R&D personnel dedicated to the project. This year, the company applied for six software copyrights related to the cloud camera. Zheng emphasized the importance of innovation in a highly competitive market where many players struggle to stand out. “Fu Shi Kang knows our resources are limited, so we focus on innovation. Our cloud services are technically advanced, and we’re working hard to turn these innovations into successful products,” he said. While the company hasn’t abandoned traditional network cameras, it’s focusing on developing high-end solutions to carve out a niche in the civilian market. Expanding Market Reach Through Multiple Channels Since last year, Fu Shi Kang has been actively promoting its cloud camera at major exhibitions like Beijing AMB. Zheng believes that consumer awareness of security technology is still low, and there is some resistance due to privacy concerns. Therefore, the company is currently in the early stages of market education. In addition to exhibitions, Fu Shi Kang is using various sales channels, including partnerships with telecom operators and bundled sales strategies. The company has already signed agreements with several major telecom providers and is conducting early-stage product testing with Foxconn. This year, Foxconn plans to promote the cloud camera in selected digital stores. Zheng also mentioned that while the foreign market for cloud cameras is more mature, the domestic market holds great potential. “The key is changing consumer perceptions. We hope to work with media and other businesses to open up the market together,” he said. Currently, the cloud camera is priced below 1,000 yuan, covering only hardware costs with no additional service fees. Video is stored locally on an SD card, with 32GB capable of storing 7–10 days of footage. Zheng added that once the market matures, the company may introduce cloud storage options with tiered pricing based on storage duration.
