Recently, the 2013 and 2014 graduate students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering participated in the Master's Forum of the first “Graduate Academic Innovation Activity Month” series of activities at the 31447 conference room. The event was hosted by Li Ying, Associate Dean of the School of Materials, Peng Jin. Liu Guoqin, Cheng Qiaohuan, Li Jinling and other teachers participated in the event.

A total of six graduate students combined with the current research topics were "new waterborne epoxy antirust coating research", "preparation and characterization of low temperature cermet binder for CBN abrasives", "research status of porous metal bond diamond grinding wheel", "Progress in Carbon Aerogel Research", "Study on Synthesis of Nano-Vanadium-Vanadium Chromium Composite Powder by Microwave Method" and "Research on Novel Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Bisanthene Derivatives". In conjunction with the current research topics, the students reported on the research status, development direction, research content, progress and application prospects of related fields at home and abroad. The report content is not lacking in the hotspots and frontier issues of current material science research, and has certain academic value. The teachers and students also conducted extensive discussions and exchanges on the contents of the report, broadened the academic horizons of graduate students, and made some suggestions for future research work.

The “Material Frontier Lecture” mainly introduces industry experts and doctors inside and outside the school as the keynote speakers to introduce the status quo, development direction, research hotspots and frontier issues of new materials research. Including research and application progress of nano-carbon materials, high-performance polymer-based composite materials, special porous materials - aerogel, diamond / hard alloy composite sheet PDC, low-temperature ceramic binder research status and development direction. During the lecture, the graduate students and the presenter interacted on some interesting issues and the atmosphere was lively. The “Material Frontier Lecture” will be held every Tuesday afternoon from April 28th and has already been held for six times. In the next few weeks, we will continue to invite industry experts from both inside and outside the school to give lectures.

Through a series of academic activities, the graduate students present have gained a deeper understanding of the frontiers, research hotspots and development directions of the new materials field, and broadened their horizons. Through exchanges with experts and doctors, they have a deeper understanding of their own professions and are full of expectations for the future development of materials, and also give graduate students a new understanding and understanding of future scientific research.
