Five reasons for vacuum pump oil failure

Five reasons for vacuum pump oil failure:

(1) Influence of high temperature on vacuum pump oil: Vacuum pump oil is in a high temperature environment for a long time, it will be oxidized and ineffective, and the phenomenon of blackening and thickening will occur; the corrosive substances inside the vacuum pump oil will increase, such as the acid substances formed during engine work; Coking, sludge, paint film and other substances increased.

(2) The influence of impurities on the vacuum pump oil: It mainly originates from dust, abrasive particles, leaking substances (water, miscellaneous oil, etc.) in the air, vacuum oil oxides, and substances produced by the combustion of fuel.

(3) Additive Failure: Some vacuum oils have degraded performance due to the failure or depletion of additives therein. For example, depletion of the anti-wear agent in the vacuum oil will reduce the abrasion resistance.

(4) Viscosity index improver failure: Because of the long-chain fragmentation of organic molecules, it no longer has the effect of improving the viscosity-temperature performance.

(5) Base oil failure: The base oil is the carrier of the additive, and the additive will not function when the base oil fails.

The name Viton is a trademark, refers to fluorocarbon o rings, or FKM/FPM for short. Viton oil seals or Viton Seal feature excellent resistance to petroleum products and solvents. They have good high temperature and low compression set characteristics. They are suited for use with wide chemical exposure situations and for hard vacuum service.
Viton Seal or Viton oil seal is used because it has a lower probability of catching fire, even with the increased percentages of oxygen found in Nitrox. It is also less susceptible to decay under increased oxygen conditions.
