Sun Yucai also pointed out that the green development of the power industry is still faced with many challenges. First, the atmospheric pollution problem with the main features of ozone pollution is increasingly severe. The haze seriously affects people's health and makes the power industry improve the environment and control pollution. The second task is that the electric power industry has not yet achieved modest advance development, the total electricity supply is insufficient, and the average electricity consumption per capita is relatively low; Third, the economic, social, and environmental development are inconsistent, the energy structure is inconsistent, and the power supply and the power grid are not coordinated. Problems such as incoordination of transportation are still prominent; Fourth, the market-oriented reform of electricity prices and the lagging behind in electricity market construction do not meet the requirements for optimal allocation of power resources nationwide; Fifth, there is increasing pressure to cope with climate change and low-carbon development.
Sun Yucai stressed that the green development of electricity is a prerequisite and guarantee for building beautiful China.
