"Hand Protection Mechanical Hazard Gloves" Officially Implemented

Starting from September 1, the National Compulsory Standard GB 24541-2009 "Gloves for hand-protective mechanical hazards" issued jointly by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standardization Administration has been formally implemented.

Statistics show that in all occupational injuries, hand injuries account for about 25%, of which mechanical damage accounts for a large proportion. In the industrial processing and production areas as well as in emergency rescue work, workers may be subject to mechanical hazards such as friction, cutting, and puncture. In order to reduce or eliminate such injuries, the above personnel need to configure different levels of mechanical hazard protection gloves.

The standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and signs for mechanical hazard protection gloves (hereinafter referred to as protective gloves). Classification of the levels of abrasion resistance, tear resistance, puncture resistance, and cut resistance, and stipulates the minimum requirements for classification for each performance level, requiring protective glove performance to be at least level 1. The standard also stipulates the sign of protective gloves and requires that the mechanical performance of the gloves should use the mechanical hazard icon and be accompanied by four performance level digital signs. When buying protective gloves, you should look for signs and purchase them on demand. Qualified products that meet the national standards produced by regular manufacturers should be selected and used within the product warranty period.
